Phyllis Wilcher – Board member
Cal State University Northridge, Pepperdine University

Supervising Children Social Worker, Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services. Phyllis Wilcher is a Supervisor with the Youth Development Services Program (Independent Living Program). In this role, she is responsible for assessing foster youth’s employment, housing, medical and educational needs. She acts a guide to help prepare foster youth for adulthood and successful transition from foster care. Mrs. Wilcher brings 36 years of experience in working with at risk children and families. She worked as a Los Angeles Deputy Probation Officer for eight years and a Social Worker for twenty eight years.Passionate about community service and volunteerism, Wilcher is actively involved in Jack and Jill of America Inc., as an Associate member, where she has served as a Regional Officer. She serves on the board of Holy Helping Hands a local non-profit organization. She is also a mentor through the Bridges to the Future Mentoring Program. Involvement in these programs allows her to encourage and support children and needy families. She attended Cal State University Northridge where she completed her undergraduate studies in Urban Studies/ Sociology and Pepperdine University graduate school of Psychology.

Dr. Ginger Lai – Board member

Dr. Ginger Lai is the founder and president of Marketing Fundamental, a company devoted to the importation and exportation of the highest quality raw materials for use in skin care and nutritional products since 1997. In 2003 she launched the Gingi™ Cellular Revitalizing System to highlight the quality of her raw material products. In 2004, Dr. Lai formed Gingi™ Inc. for the express purpose of marketing the Gingi™ skincare system in North America. In a few short years, Gingi™ has become a darling of the skincare business and of show business as well, with Gingi™ products having been selected as official gifts for the Academy Awards®, Emmy® Awards, and Grammys® Awards.In 2008, Dr. Lai was named Enterprising Woman of the Year by Enterprising Women Magazine and one of the Top Ten Chinese American Entrepreneurs by Vivid Magazine. In addition to managing Marketing Fundamental, Inc. and Gingi, Inc., Dr. Lai is also the founder and president of ABC Barter, an international multi-directional trading company based in Alhambra, CA with 45,000 affiliate members in the US and around the globe. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA and a doctorate in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA.

Senior Paralegal – Assist litigation attorneys with all aspects of discovery including computerized legal research, fact gathering and analysis, database management, document and discovery drafting, and court filings in state and federal courts. Assist with all phases of trial preparation including court hearing and trial attendance. Coordinate and assist with business and litigation paralegal training programs in multiple offices. Train and mentor junior paralegals, paralegal interns and document clerks. Supervise paralegals, paralegal interns, document clerks and clerical staff on case projects and trial teams. Assist with potential client presentations and request for proposal submissions.

Keith J. Gibbs – Executive Director
University of Phoenix

Keith Gibbs enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1978. Gibbs’ first tour of duty was Okinawa, Japan. Upon leaving Okinawa he toured many locations around the globe. In the early 80’s Gibbs requested to become a Drill Instructor. Training 90 men on a quarterly basis and being responsible for their total being was a tremendous task to be accomplished. Gibbs also spent several years as a Marine Corps Recruiter. Enlisting men and women from all walks of life, and from different levels of education, he was the number one recruiter for Los Angeles County in 1987. Gibbs retired after 22 years in the military with an Honorable Discharge, and has worked with youths since 1978. Gibbs also graduated with a Baccalaureate Degree in “Computer Information Technology”. Gibbs went on to work for a number of top organizations including Lockheed Martin Information Technology Group, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and Deloitte & Touche.

Rhonda Graves – Board member

Management Analyst for the City of Pasadena – Department of Finance. She has been employed with the City for seventeen years. Outside her responsibilities in the Budget Division of the Department of Finance, she also serves as the Department Adopt a Family Community Outreach program (adopting Pasadena Unified School District families in need during the holiday season). She holds a bachelors’ degree in Business Administration. Rhonda also volunteers her talents to United Christian Women and the Pasadena Panthers Football and Cheer program.

Daniel Barth – Board member

Daniel serves as a husband to Eugenia, the father of 5 children and as the General Manager of Super King Markets. He graduated from the Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California, in 1986 with a certificate in Food Industry Management. Daniel has been privileged to hold a variety of leadership positions in the food industry over 30 years. He joined the board in 2009 and looks forward to prayerfully and enthusiastically supporting the continued growth of SCB’s inspired outreach to young people and their families.

Kobie Conner, Esq. – Board member

Yale Law School

Where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Economics. While attending Howard, Kobie became one of the first interns for newly elected Congresswoman Maxine Waters in 1991. After Howard, he attended Yale Law School, earning his Juris Doctorate in 1996. After graduating from law school, Kobie clerked for the Honorable Consuelo B. Marshal, U.S. District Court Judge for the Central District of California. For the past ten years, Kobie has worked in the entertainment industry as an attorney and business affairs executive. He is currently the director of business affairs for the theatrical division at Twentieth Century Fox. Kobie is a life long resident of Los Angeles and a graduate of George Washington Preparatory High School.

Dominique R. Young – Secretary

Bachelor of Arts Degree in Visual and Communication Arts, minor in French.Portfolio assistant at California Institute of the Arts. Dominique Young was a cadet airmen in Air Force JROTC. Tutored and mentored students at Northpark Elementary School. Studied foreign languages and intercultural communications in Switzerland. Currently working towards Master’s degree in Humanities at California State University Dominguez Hills.

Shana Wilcher – Board Member

Shana Wilcher is a proud graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University where she earned her B.S. in accounting. Ms. Wilcher received her J.D. from Howard University School of Law in 2007 and currently leads the Tax Remediation Division at Mason and Mickens Financial Solutions, Inc. Her practice focuses on tax law as well as some employment and contract related matters. While in law school, Ms. Wilcher pursued her interest in litigation as a member of the Howard University School of Law Criminal Justice Clinic. As a student attorney she represented respondents on criminal matters before the Superior Court of the District of Columbia as well as before the United States Parole Commission for parole revocation hearings. An avid fundraiser Ms. Wilcher served as the Fundraising Chair and the Treasurer for the Class of 2007 and in undergrad she worked with the Economic Development committee for the schools chapter of the NAACP. Shana’s passion for assisting other people lead her to volunteer at summer camps to work with military children abroad, to mentor high school students, to work in the Juvenile Division of the Public Defenders Office immediately after law school, and to ultimately start her own business, SJW Initiatives, LLC, through which she assist people in achieving their dreams by providing small business consulting and legal services.
